Leo Alvarez is a composer, guitarist, arranger and teacher of the Jazz guitar course at the Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda.

He began his career in 1990 playing jazz in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Jazz Clubs. Since 1996 he has been at the head of the Leo Alvarez jazz quintet. He was part of the Bac Big Band of the Ministry of Culture of the Nation along with Horacio Larumbe and Juan Cruz de Urquiza between 1998 and 2002. He participated as musical director of the musical Hair in 2003.
In 2005 he was in charge of the arrangements and artistic production of the albums "Contraluces" and "Passagens" by the singer Belén Pérez Muñiz, together with Osvaldo Fattoruso and Daniel Maza among others

In 2007 he released his first album with his own compositions "Contraluces". And in 2010 he presented his second material "Some Considerations", in 2011 he participated in the program "Culture at the University" in Santiago del Estero, Catamarca and Tucumán presenting his music and giving  sponsored workshops by the Secretary of Culture of the Nation. He has participated as a project leader in the Mardel Jazz Festival, Jazz in April, Buenos Aires Jazz and other Music in several editions, Ba Jazz international festival, several editions San Isidro Jazz festival among others. San Luis International Jazz Festival 2011- Potrero de los funes He played with musicians such as Mauricio Maestro and Kay Lyra (Br), Fernando Merlino (Br) (Lenny Andrade), Nick Homes (Uk), Horacio Larumbe, Osvaldo Fattoruso, Robertinho Silva (W. Shorter/ Milton Nascimento), Clifford Adams (Cool and the gang/Slide Hampton), Juan Cruz de Urquiza, Ricardo Cavalli, Enrique Norris, Agustin Pereyra Lucena, Fats Fernandez among others. His albums have been included and recommended in a catalog of essential recordings by the journalist and writer Fernando Rios in the book Nuevo Jazz Argentino (2000-2020)

Leo Alvarez es compositor, guitarrista, arreglador y docente del ciclo superior de guitarra Jazz de la Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda.

Comienza su carrera en 1990 tocando jazz en el cicuito porteño de Clubes de jazz. Desde 1996 está al frente del Leo Alvarez jazz quinteto . Formó parte de la Bac Big Band de Secretaría de Cultura de la Nación junto a Horacio Larumbe y Juan Cruz de Urquiza entre  1998 y 2002. Participó como director musical del musical Hair en 2003.
En el año 2005 estuvo a cargo de los arreglos y la producción artistica de los discos "Contraluces" y "Passagens" de la cantante Belén Perez Muñiz, junto a Osvaldo Fattoruso y Daniel Maza entreo otros

En el 2007 edita su primer disco con composiciones propias Contraluces”. Y en el 2010 presentó su segundo material “Algunas Consideraciones”, en 2011 participó en el programa “Cultura en La Universidad” en Santiago del Estero, Catamarca y Tucumán presentando su música y dictando clínicas auspiciado por la Secretaria de Cultura de la Nación. Ha participado como líder de proyecto n los Festivales Mardel Jazz, Jazz en Abril, Bs As Jazz y otras Músicas en varias ediciones, Ba Jazz festival internacional, varias ediciones San Isidro Jazz festival entre otros.
